Advancing Marine Genomics for a Sustainable Blue Future
Advancing Marine Genomics for a Sustainable Blue Future
Welcome to the Taiwan Ocean Genome Center (TAOGC).
Established in 2023, TAOGC was founded under the visionary leadership of Professor Kuo-Ping Chiang (National Taiwan Ocean University) and Researcher Sen-Lin Tang (Academia Sinica). Operating on a foundation of Service, Education, and Research, we are a hub for innovation dedicated to unlocking the genetic potential of our oceans.
Our Vision & Mission
In alignment with the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (SDG 14), we recognize that marine genomics is the cornerstone of the modern blue economy and environmental conservation. As these genetic resources are inextricably linked to human life and planetary health, TAOGC serves as a strategic platform to:
Pioneer Genomic Platforms: Providing state-of-the-art sequencing and analysis technologies.
Cultivate Expertise: Training the next generation of bioinformatics and genomics professionals.
Bridge Collaborations: Connecting domestic and international research clusters to accelerate marine discovery.
Strategic Excellence in Research
National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) boasts Taiwan’s most comprehensive marine research ecosystem, with specialized laboratories covering everything from marine vertebrates to microorganisms. As the first center in Taiwan dedicated specifically to marine genomic informatics, TAOGC leverages this unique academic environment to drive breakthroughs in:
Biodiversity Conservation
Ecological Management
Sustainable Resource Utilization
Driving Innovation & Industry Impact
Our goal is to stay at the forefront of global marine research. By integrating cutting-edge sequencing technologies with interdisciplinary collaboration, TAOGC maximizes the translation of raw genomic data into tangible technological assets and industrial applications. We are committed to maintaining Taiwan’s competitive edge while ensuring the long-term health of our marine ecosystems.
